Shakuhachi

Born in Kurashiki, Okayama Prefecture in 1982, Tanomura Soh graduated from Shimane University, School of Science and Technology.
After a musical career that began as a boy, playing guitar, producing electronic music, and DJing, he began playing the shakuhachi at the age of 18, an instrument that was a keepsake from his grandfather.
While in school, he studied the Kinko-ryū shakuhachi under Kakei Shūgetsu, and contemporary Japanese music under Tanabe Retsuzan and Tanabe Shozan.
After moving to Tokyo, he studied under Sugawara Kuniyoshi.
He graduated from the 51st NHK Japanese Music Skills Training Association.
He received the Excellence Award at the 17th Hase Kengyō Memorial Kumamoto National Japanese Music Competition.
A member of the NPO Japan Music Group, he has been a director of the group since 2016.
Tanomura appears on TV shows such as "Okaasan to Issho Family Concert: Music Doctor's Uraraka Concert" (NHK) and "Celebrity Rating Check" (TV Asahi), participates in recordings for the game "Ryu ga Gotoku Ishin!" (SEGA), and is active in many areas, such as supporting famous artists.
He pursues the possibilities of the shakuhachi with an unrestrained style that is not bound by existing frameworks.
